Amazon is trying out new ways to screen new third-party sellers who wants to sell on their platform by making a personal contact with each new seller. Initially such meetings took place in person with Amazon employees. But with the COVID-19 pandemic the process transformed onto video calling. These are welcome news for most Amazon sellers who are struggling with the flood of new accounts that are being opened for the purpose of fraud and selling conterfeit merchandise. Amazon says that their additional verification processes prevented millions of “bad” accounts to be registered last year.
