In today’s digital world, online sellers face numerous challenges that can disrupt their business. It is essential for these entrepreneurs to have a regular backup strategy in place to safeguard their valuable data and ensure business continuity.

1) COMPUTER

Use hard drive device or a cloud service (like iCloud) to regularly backup your data.

2) PHONE

Most phones can be easily backed up daily automatically. Like iPhone with iCloud. The trick is to make sure that you activate this feature in advance. Before you lose or damage your phone in the Pacific ocean on your trip to Hawaii.

3) SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT

If you have any kind of presence in social media and create and publish content to drive sales, you must also consider backing up your social media.

FACEBOOK

a. Download a copy of your Facebook data for your profile
b. Click account in the top right of Facebook.
c. Select Settings & privacy, then click Settings.
d. In the left column, click Privacy, then click Your Facebook information.
e. Next to Download profile information, click View.
f. Click Request download

INSTAGRAM

a. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
b. Tap at the top.
c. Tap Your activity.
d. Tap Download your information.

Do not forget about YOUTUBE, and other social sites which we often rely on to store our data.

4) AMAZON PRODUCT LISTINGS

a. To export product listings: Log in to your Amazon Seller Central account and navigate to the “Inventory” tab. Select “Manage Inventory” to view all your listings. Check the boxes next to the products you want to backup or select all if you want to back up your entire inventory. Click on the “Download” dropdown menu and choose “Inventory Report.” This will generate a report containing all your product information, including titles, descriptions, prices, and more.

b. I recommend downloading Category listing report which you will be able to use to upload the listings back, in case something happens.

c. Save the inventory report: Once the report is generated, download it to your computer. Choose a secure and easily accessible location to store the file, such as a dedicated folder on your hard drive or an external storage device.

E – Product ID (ASIN or UPC)
F – Product ID Type
I – Department

5) AMAZON PRODUCT IMAGES

Please note that images are not available in the report above.
a. To download them you will have to do the following: Navigate to the “Inventory” tab and click on “Manage Inventory.”

b. On the Manage Inventory page, locate the product for which you want to download the photographs and click on the product title to access its details.

c. In the product details page, scroll down to the “Images” section. Here, you will find all the product images associated with that listing.

d. Right-click on each image and select “Save Image As” or a similar option depending on your browser. Choose the location on your computer where you want to save the image, and click “Save.”

e. Repeat the process for each image you want to download from the listing.

f. If you have multiple product listings with photographs you want to download, you’ll need to repeat steps 3 to 6 for each listing.

Also, if you have different listings on other platforms, like your websites, ebay, etsy, walmart marketplace, don’t forget to back them up as well!

REMEMBER: It’s crucial to establish a regular backup routine to ensure your stuff is always backed up. Consider setting a reminder to perform backups at least once a month.
